Geneva Festival 2010

Welcome to the Geneva Festival, the unmissable summer happening and the biggest annual tourist event in Switzerland, right in the heart of the city!

From 15 July to 8 August, the breathtaking Geneva lakefront will host concerts, entertainment, stands and fair rides, not to mention the high point on 7 August: the majestic musical firework display.

Concerts
Alongside some 180 open air concerts and shows held on concert stages all around Geneva’s lakeside – from Funkytown at Baby-Plage to Scène «0 Watt»in the Pâquis, , from the Scène des Clubs to Scène Ella Fitzgerald,fromIle Rousseau to Général-Guisan.

Musical Fireworks
All the enchantment of the circus under an open sky. Saturday 7 August starting at 10pm: the high point of the Geneva festival. Geneva’s harbour will be transformed into an immense open air circus ring through the magic of pyrotechnics set to music.

6th slowUp
More than 25,000 people are expected to show up to cover the 29 km course on the Left Bank by bike, skateboard, trainers, rollerblades, horseback or soapbox cart. A congenial and safe day out in the country.

Mediators
Immediately identifiable by their golden yellow T-shirts marked “MEDIATOR” in large letters, some twenty mediators, in groups of three, will supervise the quays and the Jardin Anglais from 15 July to 8 August.

Sorting the trash is everyone’s job
Keeping the fairgrounds neat is in everyone’s interest.This year, stall keepers will sort their trash directly at their stallS. Two million visitors eating and drinking on the site during 11 days will generate more than 200 metric tons of trash that will have to be sorted. If everyone takes care of his or her own trash, the job will be much easier.

The focus is on accessibility
Sharing and open-mindedness are essential to an event that is enjoyable for all. For the handicapped or elderly, reduced mobility is a major problem, and we must do everything we can to make the Festival accessible to them.
