Musical Fireworks

Saturday 7 August starting at 10pm
The high point of the Geneva Festival. Geneva’s harbour will be transformed into an immense open air circus ring through the magic of pyrotechnics set to music.

Let the show begin! Spectators will be dazzled by what will probably be the world’s largest open air circus ring. Launching platforms set in a circle around the harbour and an extra pontoon in the middle will ensure perfect symmetry for this fiery illustration of circus acts. The display will be masterminded by two Swiss firms which will jointly host the 55-minute show depicting each circus act in pyrotechnical sequence, the whole enlivened by the main stars, the clowns, with the triumphant march of the performers as the 3-minute grand finale.

Sugyp SA will begin the show with a parade of tightrope walkers, jugglers, horses, big cats and, of course, clowns in a brilliant pyrotechnical kaleidoscope representing the different circus acts – a joyful, colourful display! And through a feat of pyrotechnical alchemy, the big cats will sparkle like gold.
Although the choreographers of these imaginary circus acts are 100% Swiss, the accompanying music will be international. Taken from shows from around the world, it is inspired by a traditional concept of the circus – the festive image of a family outing, the candy-floss and popcorn. The soundtrack will be punctuated by special sound effects to accentuate the illusion of a live circus show.

The second part will be the work of the Geneva firm Pyrostars, whose pyrotechnicians will skilfully combine thunderclaps and bursts of vibrant colour to set the harbour on fire with a succession of circus acts – elephants, trapeze artists, magicians, sea-lions and clowns will parade across the sky.

Firework motifs, which we had not seen for some time, are back. The sky will be decorated with hearts, flowers, and even stars to put the real ones to shame!

The grand finale, offered by Geneva’s Airport, will also be the work of Pyrostars: a colourful, sparkling pastel parade in all the colours of the rainbow. And for the traditional final touch, the Jet d’Eau will signal the end of this impressive open air display
