When Great Seafarers cast anchor in Geneva!
The Geneva Tourism & Conventions Foundation and the Geneva Festival Organising Committee are delighted to welcome in 2013 a guest country of honour whose history is closely bound up with mankind’s great discoveries, conquests that have fashioned vast continents, a nation of exceptional cultural wealth, Portugal.
After India in 2011, Geneva Festival offers a prestigious shop window to a joyous and convivial Portuguese community well integrated in Switzerland and Geneva, who will take pride in sharing their age-old passions, their culture, fine food and crafts, and in introducing us to their artists of renown, in the centre of a large Village and on the main stage of the Jardin Anglais.
The 2013 edition of Switzerland’s most important tourist and festive event invites you to relax on the embankments of one of the world’s finest natural harbours, with nearly 150 free concerts on its different stages and an equal number of food stalls, bars and restaurants serving international cuisine, as well as the summer’s largest funfair. The harbour will feature prominently on the first Saturday, with numerous water sports in the spotlight and fireworks staged by Portuguese pyrotechnicians. The 9th edition of slowUp will take you through the hillsides and vineyards of the left bank before this first weekend is brought to a close by musical performances on the quaysides on both sides of the lake.
Before relishing the not-to-be-missed Grand Pyromelodic Firework Display on the final Saturday which will be devoted to mankind’s great conquests through the ages, you’ll have your heart set on enjoying the wonderful evenings reserved for you exclusively by Geneva Festival, to the sound of fado or rock, reggae or hits from the past, together with dancing of all kinds and thrills galore at the many funfair attractions.
Geneva Festival is delighted to welcome you to this new edition, thanks to support from the City and State of Geneva, its sponsors and partners, companies, staff and volunteers, who contribute every year to the success of this event.
Welcome to Geneva! Bem-vindo a Genebra!
