Program of the Geneva Festival
Terroir parade
Departure: 1 August at 2:00 pm, Monument Brunswick
Arrival: from 2:45 pm, Parc La Grange
Fruit and vegetables of the region, and also grains, are products that have long been rooted in the history of Geneva. Behind these riches, there are women and men who are passionate about keeping this local tradition alive. They have preserved the tastes, rituals, rhythms, customs and costumes.
The Fêtes de Genève has organised a local parade of members of federations, associations, groups and corporations with a selection of representatives of modern Geneva agriculture.
This promises to be a colourful procession that will include the Geneva Cantonal Costume Federation, the Association of Bernese Mountain Dogs, the Veterans' fifes and drums, a trio of alphorn players, the distillery of Saconnex d'Arve on a Chevrolet truck dating back to the Prohibition, the distillery of the Satigny Trade Union, the Dek'Onex group, horse-drawn carriages from the Geneva Horse and Carriage Federation, a tractor and a cart from the Geneva Agricultural Museum, and a marching band.
This cheerful group will start moving at 2.00 pm from in front of the Brunswick monument to reach the left bank by crossing the Mont Blanc bridge, the Jardin Anglais and Quai Gustave Ador, to reach Parc La Grange for the festivities of the afternoon of 1 August, organised by the City of Geneva.
This festive musical parade is sure to capture the imagination of young and old. Cameras, camcorders, tablets and smartphones are essential to capture this day and its rich and varied programme. See you along the way!
