Under his real name Filipe Oliveira he was also the singer in the group “Sol da Noite”.

He started playing the piano aged six without taking lessons. In 1998, he made his first forays into hip-hop, writing the words and music for his first album. In 2007, he released his first single “Emigrante Del Mundo” followed by “Dame Reggaeton”.

But it was with his song “Vem Dançar Kuduro” in collaboration with Big Ali that he found success. The single was a big club hit in France and reached number 2 in the Portuguese top 50, making it to 10th place in the European Hot 100. In a short space of time Lucenzo became one of the world’s Latino superstars and was singled out for Latino Grammy awards at the 2012 Billboards in Miami.

He also won the Starfloor Diamond Video award in 2011. Today a major international artist on the Latino scene, he is also a key player in the commercialisation of Kuduro, a mix of original sounds from Portuguese-speaking Africa (particularly Angola), Portuguese folklore, Brazilian and electro pop. It’s an impressive mix that’s sure to go down a storm.
