For some time, this exciting race has required no introduction. As dynamic as it is fun, this is the cherry on the cake of the Geneva Festival. Rhythm and tempo are the defining factors in this unmissable race of waiters and waitresses, which has become a world-famous tradition in Geneva. This is a job that requires lots of know-how and real physical stamina.
Though this may seem like a real mission impossible, these seasoned professionals run a great race against the clock, watched and cheered on by enthusiastic crowds. So, now you know all about this upcoming event, which is certainly no picnic! The race is on for waiters and waitresses
- What is it about? A race that has been organised for the last 17 years by the Geneva Society of Café, Restaurant and Hotel Owners, in which, ironically for a race, running is forbidden.
- Who is involved?One hundred professionals nominated by their employers.
- How is it working? ? 1.8 kilometres must be covered quickly, while carrying a tray with two glasses of water and two full bottles in one hand.
- Where? From Baby-Plage towards quai Gustave-Ador, crossing the city.
- Record to beat? 10:23:57 (set in 2010).
