ISSA BUANGA

In 2002 I discovered Salsa Cubana after attending some classes. In 2003, I had the opportunity to do a show with the group “Las Locas” at the Zurich Salsafestival. It was there that I discovered the Rumba and the Afro-Cuban dances that have now become my life. In 2005 I danced with the group Machoson de BE and was lucky enough to be invited with them to Cannes and to perform shows in Switzerland and across Europe. 

Since 2006, I’ve been a member of the groups Rumbalante and the Salsadancers in Bern. In parallel with dance I studied French, history and Latin at the University of Fribourg and have taught in high schools. I’ve been teaching Salsa since 2005 and Afro-Cuban since 2009, Kizomba since 2012. 

I also work at community events (for example sports days or week-long events, optional courses in high schools and colleges) as well as private classes and workshops in Switzerland and abroad. Today I also teach the Zumba. The influence of the modern and traditional dances of my country the Congo, as well as Afro-Cuban dance, give my dance style a little extra something.
