Sorting your rubbish
Sorting is good for the environment
During the Geneva Festival, everyone is joining forces to sort rubbish.
The City of Geneva is famous for its spectacular setting beside the lake and its natural beauty. The Organising Committee works hard every year to keep the place spick and span, educating and informing people as they come and go. Less pollution requires more commitment. We are therefore calling on the public to respect the environment and to follow the basic rules of good citizenship. To support this goal, a rubbish sorting system has been set up for the Festival, under the expert leadership of Gilbert Sculier, a member of the Organising Committee.
A serious effort for more cleanliness
More than 250 temporary rubbish bins will be added to the existing bins located on the lakefront, as well as more than 50 colour-coded recycling bins for different types of waste. Blue for glass, grey for aluminium, orange for PET plastics and green for biodegradables.
Stand operators are fully involved in this joint effort, with a one-franc levy on cans and bottles, which is refunded when you return the vessel and token.
The maintenance teams are also out from 4 am, but they alone cannot guarantee the cleanliness of the Festival site, because cleanliness, as with so much in life, is down to each and every one of us!
